Activity #9
1. How do you think this video is relevant to Secondary Social Studies and English education?
- I think that this video is relevant to Secondary Socaial Studies and English education because it gives our students a new way of looking at all the social networks that people use around the world. All these people that use youtube have created a community of people who contact with one another through youtube. New forms of community create new forms of self understanding. This video forces students to look at new ways of communicating, better ways of communicating. It's trying to help us create new conversations for the new future!
- The term recognition refers to deeper level of awarness, a deeper level of awarness of yourself. Connects us in different ways. People who sit infront of a web cam and record themselves dont see you watching them, so they open up more and uncover something that they didnt know about themselves. Another word for recognition is self-reflection. These people who record themselves for the whole world to see, sit infront of this web camera and talk about life or what ever they feel like talking about not realizing that millions of people are watching them around the world. These people can press the replay button whenever they want and watch you over and over again. Many who do this benefit from it because for them its good to talk "into the camera" without seeing a person and their reaction back, its a way for them to pour out what they are feeling. This can teach people new ways of communiticating and new ways to better understanding yourself.
